JET Stone is an established hunter/jumper show stable under the professional guidance of Juliana Thorbecke. Originally from Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Juliana grew up in a riding family and had a successful junior career in the pony, junior, and big equitation rings. While attending Westminster College, Juliana got her start in teaching as well as bringing along young horses, including her own.
Once out of college, Juliana took her first professional job at the Potomac Horse Center in Maryland. After four years of being the head trainer and cultivating a business, she decided to move her clientele to a private boarding facility in Poolesville. Juliana has trained riders and their mounts to compete in the upper level jumpers, Medal/Maclay, Pony Hunters and Junior Hunters. Her students have qualified for Maclay Regionals, been in the top 20 at Pony Finals, been in the top 10 at Junior Hunter Finals, and have received top placings at Zone Finals and WEF. Her training experience ranges from teaching young horses to jump to competing them in the High Performance Hunters and Jumpers in major horse shows across the country. In addition, she works with her Aunt and Uncle, Chris and Shane George of Magnolia, TX in aspects of training, showing, buying, selling, and importing horses.
Added to our team is farrier and trainer, Alex Bobbitt. Alex grew up learning to ride hunters, jumpers, and fox hunters under the tutelage of Paul Cronin’s wife, Mandy. After getting a degree in Agriculture from Virginia Tech, he pursued the rodeo circuit out west and also gained experience breaking and starting young horses. He moved back to the Lexington, VA area to start his career as a farrier, young horse trainer, and whip for Rockbridge Hunt. Alex now resides in Poolesville, focusing on his farrier business, and training/selling young horses. Since he is an accomplished rider himself, his understanding of how the horse travels is invaluable for corrective shoeing. His expertise ranges from race horses to Grand Prix jumpers and everything in between. He is readily available for his clients in case of emergency and will also travel to shows for barns that are consistently on the road.
